    It works!

So I was skeptical at first due to the simplicity of this tool but was willing to take a chance. It definitely works and takes care of those hard to reach areas! I groomed dry and it removed all hair and left my back smooth. The only drawback is it does leave some scratches on your back, not sure if this would be reduced by using it in the shower? Also I did this in the dead of winter when the air is extremely dry and that may have contributed to dry skin and whatnot. Either way, if you wanna take care and control of a problem and don’t wanna have to ask someone to assist you, this is the way to go. Granted, the hair will grow back and I don’t know how long the blades last, but it gets the job done and in my eyes that’s worth 5 stars!

    Works great

Easy to use once you get the hang of it. I have a moderately hairy back and it took the hair off without issue. No cuts or gouges. A little bit of redness and irritation that faded in an hour.

Works great, but why has it *doubled* in price?

I’ve had this for 6 years and it works great.Sometimes I use an *electric* back hair trimmer (tried the expensive “Mangroomer” first, then found the “Philips Norelco Bodygroom 5000 with Back Attachment” worked even better for half the price). But I have thick back hair and the electric trimmers always leave my back “stubbly” — because they can’t shave it down 100% to the skin, it leaves visible stubble and my skin feels like a scratchy five o’clock shadow to anyone who touches it.But I use this when I want a 100% baby-butt-smooth back with zero visible stubble. If I use this and then go to the beach, nobody has a clue my back is actually crazy hairy like an ape. There are 3 complaints I see in other reviews that haven’t been a problem for me at all:1) I see people complaining that it can irritate, but I use this in the hot shower with a soaped-up back, and get zero irritation. I also use it with only one blade inserted, rather than two — I feel like that gives me much more precise control, and half as many blades means half as much irritation. (I would never try it “dry” even though it’s advertised for that.)2) I see people complaining it’s not long enough to get your whole back, but I don’t understand — I’m over six feet tall and can get it all. But I only use it “over the shoulder” (like in the photos) for my upper back. For my middle and lower back, I reach around laterally, below my arms — I start at my spine and then shave towards my sides. Maybe people aren’t using it from the side?3) I see people complaining it’s difficult to remove the blade and that they’ve even cut themselves doing so. I’m totally baffled by this — you pull the blade cartridge out sideways, using the plastic tab provided to pull on, and it slides easily. It’s just plastic against plastic. And the pull tab is far away from the blade itself. Even if the cartridge did somehow get stuck and you had to forcefully remove it, I still don’t understand how you could cut yourself in the process. It seems 100% safe to me.However, I do have a big issue with this product which is that it’s doubled in price! I bought it back in 2018, and for the first couple years it was $28-30 (as you can verify on CamelCamelCamel). But then in 2020 it went up to $40, in 2021 it went up to $50, and now in 2024 it’s gone up to $60!!! (Well, $59.95 technically, but I’m rounding up.)What the *heck*. Sure there’s been some inflation since 2018, but that would make it only $34 now in 2024, from $28 in 2018. But even *accounting* for inflation, it’s almost *doubled*! That’s INSANE.It’s just a big piece of plastic with a hinge, and four razor blades in plastic cartridges. Charging $60 for this is just corporate greed pure and simple. Bring the price down to $35 which would be fair again. I’m sick and tired of companies trying to take advantage like this.

I originally had an electric back razor… it worked ok, but would not get a close cut…. This unit cuts the hair close… What more do you want….

    Wow!!! It works!

I was a little skeptical at first about this product. I’ve used an electric one before – many years ago – and it had a short one and half blade. It worked but it had many drawbacks so I stopped using it for awhile now. I decided to give this a try and saw several versions on Amazon. Now that I got it and have given it a try for the first time, IT WORKS!!!! I was very impressed. The dual wide blades did the job. I am super excited and happy with the result. It is very easy to use and functions as expected. Highly recommend this product!

    It works…

I got this cause I’m a pretty hairy dude.I saw this and wanted to give it a try, in hopes I would be able to take care of my hairy back myself instead of asking for help.I tried it probably 3-5 times before giving up on it. Every time I used it, I was very very careful, because the blades are super sharp, plus I saw a couple other reviews that said they had cut themselves with this item. So, the first time I used it, I tried it dry, like it had claimed it could do. It worked, but a day later I had gotten A LOT of razer burn from it.The next time I used it in the shower and used the back side of it to apply some shaving cream to my back. But again, I ended up with razer burn, but this time it was minimal.I ended up using again, and ended up with the same results, razer burn, but I ended up cutting myself up in a couple places. So, I decided I wouldn’t use this anymore. The biggest issue is trying to keep it flat on your back while you are pulling in a direction. It can be done, but I’d rather just have to ask my wife for assistance with the electric razer.

Surprised at how well it actually works!

I’ve ordered probably about 1000 items off Amazon, and this is maybe the 2nd review I’ve ever written. I had low expectations for the product, but I was honestly surprised at how quick and easy this product works, and also how smooth the result is. I think it literally took 5 minutes for my back, and I was done. Nice product. Well done.

    100% honest review

I’ve had this thing for about a week now. Here is my completely honest and unbiased thoughts. It is honestly pretty good! A few complaints. 1. The handle should be just a little bit longer (I am 6’2) 2. The blades don’t last all that long. Maybe 2-3 shaves before you start to notice the dullness. 3. Hair gets caught in this thing very easy and it is not easy to clean. Other than these few things this product is honestly wonderful. Me and my S/O split a while back and I haven’t been able to groom my back because she always helped. It’s a little tricky to get used to and figure out at first but once you have a routine down shaving your back is a breeze

    Easy to use!

It’s easy to use, gets the job done, although for me it’s hard to see my full back in the mirror. I only cut myself once so far shaving. Then there’s the clean up on the bathroom floor, but I knew that was coming. What comes off, must drop down.

    Good for what it is

Bought this for shaving my own back and it does what it’s supposed to do. Tends to irritate the skin leave razor bumps but my back hair is pretty coarse and think so I’d expect that with any razor. Good alternative to waxing.

    This thing is amazing!!!

Let me paint you a picture. Imagine a wool sweater a sheep farmer in Scotland would wear in the highlands on a cold day. That is exactly how thick and hairy I am. I could go outside on the winter and not even need a coat because my hair would keep me warm enough. I’ve always struggled with keeping my back and shoulders free of hair, and have tried countless different products and techniques. From wax kits, electric back razors, and even Nair (I was young and dumb at the time). Waxing hurt too much, and would cost a lot of money, the electric back razor worked (but never cut close enough to the skin, and couldn’t handle had growth longer than a week), and the Nair was just an all around horrible idea hahaha.Thought I would try this back razor system as it always seems to pop up whenever I browse the Amazon app. Seemed to get great reviews, and was a super reasonable price. Bit the bullet and bought the razor. When I opened the package, it said you could use it wet OR dry. I tried a small patch on my shoulder as per the instructions, and was amazed at how well it worked! Cut way closer to the skin, and handled my thick wool sweater of a body with ease! Got the entire rest of my shoulders and back and was astonished at well it worked. The only downside, as with any razor, is you will nick any raised bump on your skin. Buy I only had it happen in 2-3 spots and the bleeding was very minimal.I liked the product so well that I went back on Amazon and purchased a bunch of replacement blades as this is now a staple in my life! You won’t be disappointed in buying this back razor!!

I was NOT expecting this to be so good. I got a razor close shave all over my torso with ZERO knicks or scratches. ZERO! I’m not into doing reviews, but this time I’m forced to shout the good review from the mountain top. Bravo to the creator and maker of baKblade 2.0! And, sincerely, thank you.

Harder Than it Looks…Something to Think About

A friend, who loves this, recommended this for my husband. He said it works great, so I bought it right away. Unfortunately, it’s a lot harder than it looks if your hair grows in any other direct than one! He used it once and won’t touch it now. If the hair grows in one direction, you should be good to go.

Spend the $5 more and get the 2.0 Plus ELITE.. MUCH better than just the 2.0 Plus!

This product looked so clumsy and painful I would have never purchased it 2 years ago were it not for the great reviews. I work out and have good definition over my back and was concerned it would be torture going across the terrain. I was definitely wrong in my thinking. 3 minutes and done. No razor burn, no pulling the hair and cuts smooth as a razor. Then I broke the blade holder/head (100% my fault and in no way due to defective or poor craftsmanship). I figured I would replace that but was informed the part is not sold separately. This was odd since it slides off and on but my having to purchase everything new must be convenient -and wise- for Mr. Backblade and his sales; however, due to the fact my experience with this product had been so pleasant, I was fine purchasing a complete new unit. The new unit arrived last week and it was not the same experience. They actually managed to put the product though a process of devolution in the past 2 years. I love getting the “new and improved” version of stuff I already love; This was no different but What a let down this was. These are myvmain complaints:1. The new unit’s blade holder only holds 2 blades rather than 32. The new design makes it more difficult to position the blades on the harder to reach areas without leaving scratches and 1 cut.3. The blades on my new Backblade 2.0 are not compatable with my old Backblade 2.0 rendering my original unit trash. I am keeping it as it still functions fine but I “fixed” it with zip-ties so it looks very tacky now and I just happen to be OCD like that.If this had been my initial purchase and experience with Backblade I would have loved it; unfortunately, the bar had been set so high- by the manufacturer- that I could not see stepping down from a product I purchased 2 years ago to this newer but inferior unit I just received, therefore, I am returning my new Backblade 2.0 Plus and have already ordered the Backblade 2.0 Plus ELITE- I am such an IDIOT.. I missed “ELITE” and ordered the wrong unitI did not major in marketing but I dated a girl for 2 months who did… Why not just call it 3.0 and after 3.0 is improved upon, that unit can be called 4.0 and then the next improbed unit can be 5.0 and on and on rather than mindlessly tacking “plus” or “elite” or “elite plus” or “fantabulous” at the end; then this does not happen again. I now have a trip to the post office and be reminded of how inefficient anything ran by the government tends to be and for their part, Backblade is getting an opened/used razor that I would imagine cannot be resold.Although I just ordered my Backblade 2.0 Plus ELITE today and have never actually seen a single one in my life, I am giving it 5 stars just going off of the photos posted on Amazon and my past product experience. Almost dropped it to 4 stars because they have douchebags in the Naming Product Department who are delusional and believe most back shavers are 6 or 7 years old.SPEND THE EXTRA $5 and get the ELITE. It has 3 blades and a pad on the backside of the blade head that looks like i will be able to use to spread shave cream to the areas I have never been able to. Those 2 features alone justify spending $5 more. Thanks Backblade… for fulfilling one of the many needs of mine that my wife simply refuses to step up to the plate and do. Not to mention we got it met legally and without fear of fines, court dates, illness, child support payments, etc.

    Real review

Yes I am one of those “I usually don’t review things” which is true to a point. I’ve only reviewed products that I actually love. I have tried many back shavers and this one works amazingly dry or wet. I can compare it to another item that actually holds a men’s razor. I would shower with a brush and soap on my back then proceed to shave and rinse for about five minutes. But this product, just a drive shave with short strokes is faster and produces super smooth results. As I said, I’ve tried all different types of shavers but this is the one. Do yourself a favor and try it. So worth the money! The alternative is laser hair removal which is very expensive. Hope this helps the next guy.

This tool is great. The wife bought this for me for Christmas. She totally loves the chore of shaving my sasquatch back when I asked her to. Haha just kidding! That’s why she got this for me. Man this thing works great. BUT don’t be a dumb dumb like me and push too hard. It will slice you. (Duh it’s razor blades) . But I love this thing and so does the wife since it’s gotten her out of this chore!

I was very happy with the purchase. It reaches every area on my back and effectively removed my back hair. It did cut me a few times. Nothing major. The angles take a little getting used to but it will reach every spot. The handle feels great and it folds for easy storage.

    Works Well

Honestly this worked much better than I had anticipated. Flexibility helps a lot to get those weird angle/areas. I found dry-shaving worked better for me as well, just be sure to not drag it across your back wildly. I have no scrapes or cuts, etc. Just be gentle with it and you shouldn’t have any issues.

    Works, but…

I was skeptical purchasing a product like this but this is the brand I chose. It comes with one blade attached and 2 extra. I found it difficult to replace the blade (I tried it just to see how easy it would be) AND they recommend replacing the blade after every 7 uses so that was a turn off. It works ok. The first time I used it I did a dry shave. Ouch! It really did a number on my back and I scratched it and bled a lot. If you are going to use this I recommend you use it in the shower after you have soaped up your back. It will glide much better. I still think you need to be somewhat of a contortionist to use this but it does the job. I am single so I am stuck using it on my own, however if you have a partner I recommend you let them use it on you. I have managed to use it well on my own, but find it difficult to reach those hard-to-reach spots.

I have more back and upper arm then King Kong!

WOW! I am not sure what else I can say. I never take the time to write reviews but I need to in this case. Like I said I am very harry and on the chest and back. A few years ago I decided to try waxing my back and did so for about six months during the summer months. Finally I just got tired of the pain I felt during the process and having kids and a wife what was the point of suffering. I mean till death do us part right? Well we were leaving for Hawaii and I really didn’t want to embarrass ,myself or family with my back. I also did not want to go back to the waxier since my hair was longer then ever. I was searching for trimmers that would work when I came across this backblade 2.0. I am sure glad I did because this thing is the greatest tool that I own.I tried it dry just to see if it would hurt or even work. I did one long stroke and was amazed how much hair it removed dry shaving. I showed my wife and she was amazed. Well she was pissed because I did the first stroke in the kitchen. The amazing thing is none of the hairs seemed to have left the blade, there was no mess. I then jumped in the shower and used the shaver like I would a back scratcher. Not once have I felt any pain or discomfort. It took about 5 minutes to shave my entire back. I stepped out of the shower and looked at the amount of hair that was by the drain and was shocked. I toweled off and had my wife come and examine I missed some spots (mostly because I am not that flexible) she finished off the areas I missed with the backslide and just like that it looked like I had been completely waxed. We had a great trip to Hawaii I felt confident and know I use it once a week in the shower. It looks like I am ready to replace the blades with the extra set they sent me.I am not being paid to write this review I just fell that passionate about this product. It’s a game changer. I promise.

IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF BACK HAIR..Read this..

TLDR: went through too many blades too quickly and you wont be able to get to boney or muscular areas. Buy an electric Razer (Mangroomer)This review comes in the context of a hairy person who want to shave his entire back. I’m a hairy dude. I have corse hair all over my body and a lot of it. For five years, I have been using a competitor of the Bakblade to shave the hair, Mangroomer. I didnt have any major issues with the Mangroomer, except it took a while to trim all of my hair. After the Mangroomer dropped from my sink counter broke, O was forced to buy a new trimmer.I saw an add for the Bakblad and decided to take a shot. I loved the idea of a larger head for quicker sessions and a closer shave so I didn’t have to trim as frequently. My first go with the Bakblade started out very promising, the blades were clearing large areas of hair from my back with little irritation to my skin. However, started having issues getting the hairs around non-flat surfaces such as boney or muscular areas. I feel the biggest flaw with the design is the blade is too large for more contoured areas. Additional, the guards that surround the blades, which are there to protect your skin from the razor, only trims optimally at an angle that is flush with your skin. You can’t tilt the blades to get into tight and bumpy areas.Fortunately for me, I have other facial razors that can hit those tougher to reach spots. But that’s not my only issue….For anyone that shaves with a razor on your face, think of the the feeling of a new razor versus one that has been used a few times. There is a clear drop off in the effectiveness of the razor after using it once, and it will continue to diminish as the usage increase. Well, the same will happen with the bakblade razors. However, in this case, you won’t be just using it on your facial area, it will be used on your entire back (at least for me) — not to mention most people have the intention to use this blade in other areas of the body as well (shoulders, chest, abs, etc.)Per shaving sessions, I was going through 1.5-2 pairs (4 blades) at a time. The new pair of blades would work okay for about a minute and then their effectiveness would drop off. After a few minutes, the bakblade becomes a better back scratcher. There is simply too much friction and area for the blades to last a full trim, and even if they do last, it they won’t last too long in the next session. After purchasing the Bakblade and a cartridge of blades, and completely using them all up in 3 months, I have decided to go back to the Mangroomer.I highly recommend, purchasing that instead. Sure, it’s not as close of a shave. However, YOU WILL SAVE MORE MONEY in the long run not buying the cheap Bakblade razors. Also, electric razors are saving for your skin.Your welcome hairy dudes.

    Self hair removal

Being a more muscular guy who is single I don’t get my back shaved that often. I usually have to end up asking my kids (weird). Found this item and worked pretty good. Got most of my her accept a few spots that were hard angles for my to reach. I’m 6’1″ 256 and I did my back and chest easily.

    Life-Changing

There’s no shame in having a hairy back, but that doesn’t mean you need to like it. BAKBLADE may take a few minutes to get used to, but it’s worth it. The hardest part is determining the best angle for a particular area. Again: totally worth the effort. I feel like a brand new man. Wish I’d bought this a long time ago!

    It works but,…

For what it is this is very expensive. I could see paying $30.00 for this item and could see there is alot of meat left on the bone for profits. The performance, it took a bit to get the swing of it and then it was effortless.I would give it a 5 Star if it weren’t so expensive.

    ohhhh yeah

Ok I was skeptical about this when I ordered it but received it today and was very impressed. The bonus for me was how good it felt like a back scratcher too. I was very pleased with how close it cut and didn’t get get any cut or scrapes from it. It is a little more difficult to use up high by myself towards the neck but a regular short razor works there.

It’s ok…but a few things to keep in mind

I was really excited to get this and try it. I don’t have a very hairy back but enough to where I like to shave and keep it smooth.Pros: long handle and the blades do seem to cut well when they are in contact with the skin. I haven’t had any cuts like I’ve seen in other reviews but everyone skin is different and skin sensitivity is different.Cons: you still need to be a contortionist if you want to hit every part of your back. Yes, the arm is long, however, getting your arm in a place that allows the blades to be fully in contact your back precisely where you want it l, is cumbersome. Additionally, there are just some areas I don’t think you can hit with confidence it got all the hair. All in all, it’s good. I wouldn’t say great. It’s a little pricey in my opinion. I feel this should be closer to the $40-50 mark. It will help you get some hard to reach places, but it’s still not as good as having someone else do it for certain spots. A type of rotating head should be a consideration for the next go around.

Used for the first time, easy to use, great results

After a couple of minutes, you figure out how to GENTLY slide it across areas to be shaved. I tried it dry, and it worked nicely. By the way, I use a double-edge safety razor on my face, so I have some familiarity with light pressure and letting the razor do the work. I think next time I’ll use some shave cream and do a wet shave.

    This thing works great

I was seriously shocked using it the first time. I did it dry and then rinsed it off so I could store under my cabinet. This is a must buy and no longer need to bother my lady to do it.

It works great but use as few passes as possible or you’ll irritate your skin

That was very surprised at how effective this tool worked for me. This review is after my first use of the shaver. My hair is not coarse. I’m not sure if that has any impact on this shaver’s effectiveness.I started very slowly so I could get a feel for the proper pressure and angle. By the time I had shaved 80% I must have picked up my speed too much and went over some areas several times trying to get the last few hairs. After I showered, the areas I went over too many times and too fast were sensitive and red. I won’t make that mistake again. Aloe vera lotion calmed it down and my back felt completely normal the following morning. It took me about 20 minutes to shave my back. I assume I will get faster as I get familiar with the angles needed for the hard to reach areas (middle back and lower-center back).

Fat Old Man’s Back Shave Ideal

Ok your kids and grandkids won’t shave your back but this thing will. If you’re truly hairy than meet Sally (which is what my sense of humor allows me to call mine). The blades last a very long time too , just like a good girlfriend.

baKblade 2.0 Elite Plus: The Lawnmower for Your Back-Scape

Ah, the age-old struggle: Man vs. Back Hair. It’s like mowing a lawn that no one asked for and that you can’t even admire in a mirror without some serious contortions. Enter baKblade 2.0 Elite Plus, the DIY back hair shaver that promised to turn me from Chewbacca into a Calvin Klein model, or at least a human being without a pelt.First things first: The baKblade 2.0 is indeed effective. It’s like a Zamboni for your back, smoothing away the hairy ice to reveal the clean surface underneath. One pass and it was “Goodbye, Cousin Itt; hello, Fabio!”BUT—and this is a but bigger than my newly shorn backside—the experience was a little too “Braveheart” for my liking. Yes, it got rid of the hair, but it also scratched up my back like I’d been breakdancing on a bed of thorns. The aftermath wasn’t noticeable until I hit the beach and the salt water treated me to a sensation akin to tiny elves attacking me with flaming arrows. Note to self: Ocean water and freshly-shaven backs mix as well as oil and water, or cats and vacuum cleaners. On the upside, the discomfort made for an excellent conversation starter with the beach lifeguard, who was kind enough to direct me to the first-aid kit rather than the lost and found. My back didn’t get infected, so I guess that’s a win?If you decide to go for the baKblade 2.0, think of it like planning a minor surgery. Schedule a few days off for “recovery” and maybe stay away from large bodies of salt water, unless you enjoy living out your own version of the Spanish Inquisition. In summary: Effective? Absolutely. Comfortable? Not so much. Recommended for those who like to live life a little on the “edge.” 🪒🔥🏖️

Better than the listing lead me to expect

When I was browsing Amazon for products that would make it easier to shave my back and shoulders, this kept coming up top of the list. There were good reviews, but I was apprehensive to try it. You see, this clearly states that it is a back shaver for men, and I’m not a man. I am, however, a transmasc nonbinary person and over a year of taking testosterone has lead to a small jungle forming on my shoulders.I didn’t know what using a men’s shaver could potentially do to me as a not-man – would it turn me into a man? Would all my skin fall off where ever it touched? Would simply opening the package burn my hands?I decided to accept the possible risks and give it a try anyway, as it did seem like the easiest and best option available.Thankfully I can now report that all it did was shave my hair- and did so extremely well!! I decided to try it in the shower for my first use, as I have somewhat sensitive skin and didn’t want to give my entire back razor burn. I did make sure to use body wash and exfoliate before shaving – like you would before shaving most other areas. It did seem to do a better job/closer shave below my shoulders… but I do get some breakouts on my shoulders, so I was taking a little extra caution there along with not having as easy of a time directing it with my hand well above my head.In all honesty I am glad to have made this purchase. This tool made something quick and easy that used to be a long and laborious process. It also included a suction cup to hang on the shower wall, which is a nice touch seeing as my shower already has pretty limited shelf space. I’ll update this review if anything changes, but bad branding aside I would recommend this for anyone who would rather have a smoother back.
